See the last chapter in the manual for the latest in changes from 1.5.1 to 1.5.2
1.5.4 clears up a couple of bugs that would cause the game to freeze in combat.
It also will cause a friendly monster to turn against you if you attack him with a physical attack. i.e. If you hit him with spells he will still be friendly.
If you have a version on your hard drive already, don't throw it away until you are sure that the complete v1.5.4 package is working. Nothing pains me more than to get mail from people telling me that they trashed there old version just to find the new one did not work.
Also, if you have PCs that you want to keep make sure you move the files from the character files folder into the new one. To get them to show up in the new copy you need to import each PC. To do this, move the files as just stated and select "Begin New Adventure". Then click the import button. Be careful not to erase them by replacing the whole folder.
If you increased the memory in the finders get info box above the previous minimum then you may want to make sure to do the same for the new copy.
That was the important stuff, you can skip the rest if you can't wait to play.
• At first I was going to use internally compacted resources which would reduce the size that it took up on your hard disk by about 1.5 meg but it would have increased the size of the installer file by about 600K. I opted for the smaller download but larger file size on the hard drive. (In case you were wondering why I dont use internally compressed resources)
What’s new in version 1.5.3 over 1.3.x?
• Updated manual.
• New graphics. That is the most obvious change.
• Fixed a bug that would cause a PCs load to go negative and thus reduce the maximum movement of that PC.
• Fixed a bug that would cause the scroll screen to close as soon as it opened.
• Fixed a bug that would cause summoned monsters to have only 1 point of stamina.
• A whole bunch of other bug fixes, too many to name each one.
• During questions you can now type the first letter of the choices instead of having to click with the mouse.
• Added a revert to previous game option in the file menu.
• Aborting the casting of a spell or the use of a missile weapon does not penalize you nearly as much as in previous games.
• You can switch it to the background and back like a good Mac application now.
• New preferences.
• Fixed the beastiary so it wont get stuck at the top of the list.
• Added an undo command in battle.
• Allow PC to flee from battle if they are far enough away from an enemy.
Im sure there are a whole bunch of other little tweeks I have made but I cant' recall them all off the top of my head.
• Attacking friendly monsters will turn them against you.
Now a plea from the author: PLEASE PLEASE don't ask when new scenarios are coming out or for hints on the current one. Not that I'm a jerk, but when I first put this out I got 20 messages a day asking when the next scenario will be out or to help find something. What I can say about the release of new scenarios is that I will get them out as soon as I can. It's in my own best finacial interest to get as many done as fast as I can, but I don't want to put out stuff until I feel it is ready. When I do come out with updates I will make sure they get to the major online services and ftp sites. You would be suprised at how long it takes to answer 20 messages a day. Time that I should use to work on scenarios.
